Message from the Pastoral Team

We, as the Pastoral Team, wanted to let you know that we are very much aware of the global and community rise in Covid cases.  Please know that your health and safety are our top priority.  We will continue to require masking and social distancing at Mass to keep our community as safe as possible, but we ask you to please make whatever decisions you feel are best for you and your loved ones regarding Mass attendance.

Youth Ministry News

The Pastoral Team has made the decision to suspend our Youth Liturgy program during Mass, due to the high numbers of Covid in the Spokane community.  The Pastoral Team will continue to monitor and discuss how to move forward in the safest way possible.  Thank you for your understanding and support.

“Seeking Safety” Prayer Service at St Ann – January 25

On Tuesday, Jan. 25th at 7:00 p.m. the St. Ann/St. Aloysius Immigration Committee is hosting a prayer service for Afghan refugees, “Seeking Safety.”  It will be held in-person at St. Ann Church and also be live-streamed on zoom.  The Zoom link will be emailed out to parishioners on the 25th, or you can register by emailing communityofstann@gmail.com.   All are welcome.

Collection for Afghan Refugees

Our St. Ann/St. Aloysius combined Immigration Committee will be collecting household items through the month of January for Afghan refugees coming to Spokane.  World Relief will deliver our contributions. There is a bin in the entryway of the church, or you can contact Pierrette, swingpej@msn.com, to arrange for pick up or to bring things to her

Here is a short list of items that are most needed: feminine hygiene pads, shampoo, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, soap, laundry detergent, toothpaste & toothbrushes.  Also needed are mops, wastebaskets and trash bags

Thank you for caring and sharing.

Social Justice Ministry

The Social Justice Ministry is continuing to focus on the experience of refugees and immigrants that began in Advent. Each week we will suggest some reading, quotes and/or videos for your reflection.

Franciscan Corner

Christmas is over. Holiday celebrations have come and gone. We are half way thru January, ordinariness has set it. Did Francis of Assisi experience routine, ordinariness? I doubt it. Francis may have done the same things over and over, but was it ever routine? Or did he reflect upon the routine of his life and experience God’s presence and love in it always different, and therefore, not routine? Is it what we do that is routine, or is it how we think about something that is routine? If you find yourself doing the same thing over and over, maybe God is asking you to look closer and know He is with you in that new experience, even if we think it is “routine.”

(Thank you to Sr. Joanne for sharing these Franciscan reflections with us.)
